Increase my salary

Transfer credits between higher ed institutions

Gain professional development

Educators who want to apply for license renewal or add a certification or a license (i.e. adding Special Education or administration) should check with their state departments of education.
You need to verify compliance with your state’s certification and licensure requirements. Your higher education institution should also have someone who can help you. Many higher education institutions have agreements with multiple states for acceptance or compliance.

You should check your local contract/school district policy if you want graduate courses to apply toward salary advancement. This is most often negotiated or managed locally.

Contact your local education association or district staff development (HR) office for help with compliance.

Contact the higher education institution where you want to transfer credits to see if they will accept them as part of your coursework.

Educators with licenses/certificates are required by law or contract to earn professional development. Check your local contract/school district policy if you’re interested in moving up the pay scale with a masters or additional credit hours (no new license). This is most often negotiated or managed locally.

Contact your local education association or district staff development (HR) office for help with compliance.
