In today’s workplace, violent incidents occur more frequently and are escalated in ways that rarely happened in the past. These situations can create a negative atmosphere in the workplace, by creating fear, anxiety, and stress. When we understand the causes of the violence, and develop plans to eliminate negative behaviors, we can reduce the risk of violence occurring in the workplace.

In this course, you will explore levels of awareness for teachers, staff, and administrators so everyone will have a common framework of knowledge and appreciation for crisis management and training programs. You will review case histories to gain a deeper understanding of the risks, threats, and hazards. You will also review reaction and response plans as well as the differing roles of teachers and law enforcement. The strategies and tools shared here will enable staff members to effectively participate in and contribute to the safety of their school and workplace.

This 10 hour course is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, in a self-paced learning format. Educators and professionals wishing to take more responsibility related to assessing threats, hazards, and vulnerabilities in their work environments, and searching for ways to positively focus and establish a sense of community before, during, and after a crisis event will take away ideas, techniques, and strategies to reduce violence in the workplace.
