PowerPoint 2010

Since 1990, PowerPoint has continued to develop in ways that can help draw attention to specifics and present information in interesting ways. We know that students learn best when they are engaged in, and responsible for, their own learning. PowerPoint can be a wonderful tool for teachers to engage students, and for students to share what they have learned.

In this course, you will explore ways to create professional and engaging presentations. You will have opportunities to connect with the basics of PowerPoint as well as new and innovative features of the program. You will review slide design, learn ways to manipulate text, check out all of the “bells and whistles,” and discover the importance of using the notes feature to ensure professional presentations. Overall, you will explore techniques which will revitalize your teaching habits and improve student success.

This 30 hour course is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, in a self-paced learning format. Educators and professionals seeking to motivate students, offer alternatives for student assessment, and those looking for an in-depth study of creating presentations using PowerPoint will take away designs, strategies and techniques that will maximize the potential for success.

NEA members will receive a special discount for course access, when they register through the NEA Academy website. Credit for course completion is issued by the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) through the university’s Continuing Education Department.
