Effective Teaching in Diverse Classrooms
This course explores strategies that work with all learners, with a focus on language acquisition, and takes participants through five phases of implementing Center for Research on Education and Diversity (CREDE)-based pedagogy standards. Educators learn to interface with students one-on-one, scaffold instruction according to student needs, allow students to be responsible for their own needs, and plan content that connects to each student's life. This course is recommended for colleagues working together; it provides participants with peer coaching techniques. The program was developed in partnership with the Illinois Education Association and the Consortium for Educational Change.
